TRUE Linkswear Golf Shoes — Zero-Drop Comfort, the Honest Truth

The Short Version

TRUE Linkswear is the golf footwear brand that made “comfortable” the whole point. Co-founded in 2009 by 5-time PGA Tour winner Ryan Moore and his brother Jason, TRUE built its name on zero-drop, wide-toe-box shoes that feel more like your favorite pair of sneakers than a golf shoe — and they’ve spent 15+ years proving that comfort and tour-level performance aren’t opposites.

Today’s lineup spans barefoot-style minimalists, cushioned walkers, and a new $225 spiked flagship, worn on Tour by the likes of Joel Dahmen and Chris Kirk. The trade-off is real, though: zero-drop isn’t for every swing, and the minimalist models give up some traction in bad conditions.

Price: $149–$235 (shoes) | Waterproof: Yes, on most models (1–2 year warranty depending on model) | Return policy: Direct from truelinkswear.com — check current terms before ordering

What Is TRUE Linkswear?

TRUE Linkswear started with a pro’s frustration. Ryan Moore one of the most decorated amateur players ever and a 5-time winner on the PGA Tour could never find a golf shoe that let his feet move naturally. Traditional golf shoes were stiff, narrow, and built like dress shoes. So in 2009, he and his brother Jason co-founded TRUE in Tacoma, Washington to build the shoe he couldn’t buy: a wide toe box, a zero-drop platform, and cushioning that lets you walk 18 (or 36) without thinking about your feet.

That “walk naturally, swing naturally” idea became the brand’s signature, and it’s earned one of the most loyal followings in golf footwear. The Tour staff isn’t window dressing either — Joel Dahmen, Chris Kirk (6x PGA Tour winner), Andrew Putnam, Ryan Moore, Taylor Montgomery, Mark Hubbard, and Oliver Wilson all play the brand.

In recent years TRUE has expanded beyond shoes into a full apparel line — hoodies, pants, shorts, and hats — designed to move from the course to the rest of your day without a costume change. That said, the shoes are the story here.

The Zero-Drop Philosophy: Why It Matters

Most golf shoes sit your heel higher than your toes (a “drop” of 8–12mm, borrowed from traditional running shoes). TRUE’s zero-drop models keep your heel and forefoot at the same height, which changes a few things:

  • Ground connection. A flat, low platform puts you closer to the ground — helpful for feeling pressure shifts through the swing.
  • Natural foot splay. TRUE’s wide toe boxes let your toes spread under load instead of squeezing them into a point, which improves balance for a lot of players.
  • Walk-all-day comfort. With no ramp under your heel, your posture and gait stay closer to how you’d walk barefoot. That’s the whole appeal for the brand’s core customer: the walking golfer.

The honest caveat: if you’ve spent your whole life in heeled shoes, zero-drop is an adjustment. Your calves and feet will notice the first few rounds. Some high-speed swingers also find ultra-soft, flexible soles less stable than a stiff, spiked tour shoe — that’s the single most common critique you’ll see in golfer forums.

The Current Lineup, Model by Model

ModelPriceBest ForKey Specs
TRUE All Day Knit Four$149Warm weather, breathability10 colorways, knit upper, featherweight
TRUE OG Cush$179Barefoot feel, extra-wide feetZero drop, wide last, minimalist
TRUE Original 1.2$189The classic TRUE lookZero drop, waterproof, all-weather
TRUE OG3 Pro$199The flagship minimalistZero drop, waterproof, upgraded traction
TRUE Antigravity$199Maximum cushion, walkingPebax Superfoam midsole, ~10.5 oz, 4mm drop, waterproof (1-yr warranty)
TRUE Antigravity Pro$225Competitive golf, all conditionsPebax midsole, TRUEdura upper, waterproof (2-yr warranty), integrated spikes
TRUE Lux² Player$235Spiked tour performanceReplaceable spikes, waterproof, wet conditions

The interesting arc here is that TRUE spent a decade as the “minimalist” brand and now competes at both ends: the OG3 Pro and Original 1.2 stay true to the zero-drop roots, while the Antigravity family borrows modern running-shoe tech Pebax foam, the same space-age material behind premium super-shoes to deliver cushioning without the bulk. The Antigravity Pro goes further with a laminated TRUEdura upper, an aggressive TPU outsole with integrated spikes, and a two-year waterproof warranty.

And yes, they’ll double as everyday shoes. Several models are explicitly designed as “on and off course” footwear, and that’s not marketing fluff it’s one of the main reasons people keep buying them.

Performance Claims vs. Independent Testing

What TRUE claims: all-day comfort with no break-in period, waterproof protection across the all-weather models, and a stable platform that supports a natural golf swing.

What independent testers found the record is remarkably consistent:

  • Plugged In Golf reviewed the Antigravity and confirmed zero break-in needed and a true-to-size fit, with the Pebax cushioning feeling “firm with a little give” and a noticeable energy return when walking. The reviewer’s long-term update was striking: after months of wear, he found the shoes eliminated the lower-back pain he got from standing for long stretches and now recommends them specifically for golfers with back, knee, or hip pain. His one reservation: the Antigravity’s spikeless tread has less bite than the OG3 Pro, so it’s not his pick for a muddy tournament round.
  • MyGolfSpy tested the Lux Hybrid and called it a very good walking shoe with top-notch materials — with traction flagged as the question mark.
  • Practical Golf’s review of the TRUE Major praised the balance of comfort, stability, durability, weather protection, and looks.
  • Driving Range Heroes found the OG3 Pro blends “classic comfort with modern traction, waterproofing, and zero-drop design for serious walking golfers.”
  • Breaking Eighty’s OG Cush review came to the same conclusion we keep seeing: extremely comfortable, wears well off the course.
  • The counterpoint shows up in Reddit’s r/golf threads: some golfers particularly those with aggressive swings feel the softer, zero-drop soles are less stable under load than a traditional stiff-soled shoe. Others call TRUE the best waterproof shoe they’ve owned. Both camps are right for their own feet.

The honest takeaway: TRUE’s comfort claims are thoroughly validated — this is arguably the most comfortable footwear line in golf, and the no-break-in promise holds up across reviews. The stability and traction story depends on the model (the spiked Antigravity Pro and Lux² Player fix the mud problem; the minimalists don’t) and on your swing. If you’ve always worn stiff, heeled tour shoes, demo the zero-drop models before committing a full season to them.

Sizing & Fit

TRUE’s fit philosophy is roomier than traditional golf shoes: the wide toe box lets your toes spread, transitioning to a secure midfoot and heel. Independent reviewers report the shoes run true to size, and the “Wide Toe Box” fit is the middle of TRUE’s spectrum — not the narrowest, not the clonkiest. If you wear thick orthotics or already need EE width, the OG Cush’s extra-wide last is the model to look at first.

Who Should Buy TRUE Linkswear?

Good fit for:

  • Walking golfers — this is the brand’s core audience, and no one does it better
  • Players with back, knee, or hip soreness after long rounds (see the Plugged In Golf long-term update)
  • Anyone who wants one shoe for the course, the clubhouse, and the grocery store
  • Golfers with wide feet or toes that get squeezed in traditional shoes
  • Early-morning dew and rain players — the all-weather models have legitimate waterproof warranties (1–2 years by model)

Maybe not for:

  • Golfers who want maximum structure and spike-style bite in a soft spikeless minimalist — step up to the Antigravity Pro or Lux² Player instead
  • Players unwilling to adapt to zero drop; it changes how your feet and calves work
  • Anyone who needs a narrow, locked-in athletic fit

Price, Warranty & Buying

Shoes run $149–$235, which puts TRUE in premium territory the Antigravity Pro at $225 and Lux² Player at $235 sit at the top of the market alongside FootJoy’s and adidas’ flagships. Waterproof coverage is by model: two years on the Antigravity Pro, one year on the standard Antigravity. Apparel ($50 hats to $125 hoodies) is priced like the premium lifestyle brands TRUE visibly inspired.

Everything is available direct from truelinkswear.com, and the site runs sales fairly often — if you’re patient, last-season colorways regularly drop meaningfully below list. Check the current return terms on their site before ordering; sizing is true to size for most, but the toe box will feel unusual on the first wear if you’re coming from a traditional fit.

Bottom Line

TRUE Linkswear is a genuinely different golf shoe the brand that bet on comfort, natural movement, and walkability 15 years before “walking golf” became a trend, and won. Independent testing backs the comfort story almost universally, the waterproofing is real, and the current lineup covers everything from barefoot-style minimalists to a spiked Pebax-cushioned flagship.

The zero-drop platform is the part you need to think about: it’s the brand’s superpower for walking golfers and its dealbreaker for a minority of swingers who want maximum structure. If you’ve ever finished a round thinking more about your feet than your scorecard, TRUE is the first brand you should look at — and the Antigravity is the model we’d start with.
