The Next Evolution of Baseball Footwear: Introducing the GFP2™

Last season marked SQAIRZ’s first full year in baseball and softball. What started as a new cleat platform quickly gained traction across the game. Players began switching after feeling the stability created by the patented SQAIRZ toe box and cleat platform. Independent testing documented measurable performance improvements. Coaches and trainers began paying attention.

Within the first year SQAIRZ baseball footwear became the Official On-Field Footwear Partner of Minor League Players, the Officially Licensed Footwear Partner of MLB Players, Inc., the Official Footwear Partner of Perfect Game, and the Official Shoe of Diamond Allegiance.

That first season proved the platform could perform across every level of the sport. The next step focused on strengthening the cleat around that foundation. Materials were upgraded. Durability zones were reinforced. The internal fit system was refined.

Months of testing with MLB players and equipment managers helped shape the next evolution. The result is the GFP2™ lineup. A cleat platform engineered to deliver greater durability, stability, and performance while continuing to refine footwear built specifically for baseball and softball.

Built for Toe Drag: ProTect™ Overlay

During development one area demanded immediate attention: the medial toe.

Hitters grind the front of the cleat through the dirt during swings. Pitchers drag the lead foot across the mound. Infielders constantly scrape the toe during quick reactions. Over time this area absorbs repeated abrasion and becomes the first place cleats break down.

The GFP2™ lineup introduces the ProTect™ Hot-Melt Structural Overlay, a new abrasion-resistant polyurethane coating designed to reinforce those high-stress zones.

The overlay forms a protective shell across the toe with a textured, sand-like surface that resists abrasion.

The medial side of the toe is reinforced asymmetrically to add durability exactly where baseball cleats experience the most wear. Abrasion testing simulated repeated drag patterns to ensure the overlay holds up under the stress players create throughout a season.

Rather than relying on aftermarket guards or coatings, GFP2™ integrates that protection directly into the structure of the cleat.

Stability Starts Inside: Blumaka® Footbed

Internal foot movement is another issue athletes often experience without realizing it. During swings, sprints, and aggressive cuts, the foot will slide around inside traditional cleats. That movement reduces efficiency and contributes to fatigue during long games.

The GFP2™ introduces the Blumaka® Anti-Slip Performance Footbed across all models. An added $60 retail value built right in.

Blumaka’s FoamLock™ technology helps keep the foot planted on the platform of the cleat while delivering measurable performance benefits including 14% higher energy return and 17% more cushioning. The anti-slip structure helps prevent forward movement and toe jamming while maintaining comfort during long games and training sessions.

Combined with our Sta-Put™ lacing system, which uses raised silicone grip elements to maintain consistent lace tension, the foot remains anchored between top and bottom support. The result is a more stable connection between the athlete and the cleat platform during explosive baseball movement.

The GFP2™ Lineup

The GFP2™ platform now expands across three models designed for the surfaces baseball and softball players train and compete on.

Metal Cleat

The metal model is designed for competitive play on natural grass fields.

The updated SmartTraction™ metal spike system features nine metal spikes, including three additional spikes positioned in the forefoot. The added forefoot spikes increase ground penetration and torque resistance during push-off, creating stronger traction for pitchers driving off the mound and hitters generating rotational power.

Molded Cleat

The molded cleat provides versatility for players competing on both grass and turf fields.

The SmartTraction™ molded cleat system combines elevated perimeter rubber cleats with reinforced central cleats to create balanced traction during acceleration, cutting, and defensive movement across mixed surfaces.

Turf

The turf is designed for cages, indoor facilities, and synthetic playing surfaces.

The outsole uses 250 rotational traction lugs positioned to support quick directional movement while maintaining the comfort of a training shoe.

Built for the Demands of Baseball and Softball

The results are already on the board. Players wearing SQAIRZ cleats have recorded measurable gains in exit velocity, sprint speed, balance, and ground force production. The platform proved itself across all levels during our first season in baseball.

GFP2™ takes that proven foundation and pushes it further. ProTect™ reinforcement shields the medial toe from the toe drag that destroys most cleats. The Blumaka® Anti-Slip Performance footbed keeps the foot planted while delivering more energy return and cushioning deep into games. The Sta-Put™ lacing system locks everything together so the foot stays connected to the cleat through every swing, sprint, and push off the mound. These are just a few of the technologies powering your play.

The platform is proven. The materials are stronger. The stability is tighter.

Now it’s your turn to feel it.
