The Best Golf Balls for Average Swing Speeds

The golf ball marked is flooded with options. OEMs not only have multiple lines of golf balls, but additionally multiple balls within those lines. It isn’t hard to see, then, why picking the right golf ball for your swing speed can become a confusing challenge. The average male golfer has a swing speed that falls around 90-95 mph, and while swing speed alone isn’t the only metric that should be used when picking a golf ball for your game, it is a decent place to start.

If you find yourself falling in this swing speed range, give any of the following golf balls a try. You may find something that helps you add a few yards off the tee or more.

Callaway Chrome Soft

Callaway just released their latest iteration of the Chrome Soft golf ball at the beginning of 2026, and it is a sneaky good performer. While it will often get overlooked due to the Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X, the Chrome Soft provides players with excellent feel, high launch and low spin off the tee while still maintaining greenside control. Featuring an all new Tour Fast Mantle to generate more ball speed and their Seamless Tour Aero cover, making it one of the best golf balls for average swing speeds.

Titleist AVX

The AVX allows players with an average swing speed the ability to play a ball that is designed to be long off the tee. It is designed to fly lower than the ProV1 with low long game spin and strong greenside control with a very soft feel. If you’re finding yourself needing a little boost off the tee, give the AVX a try.

Wilson Triad

The Triad from Wilson is a three piece premium golf ball that offers an incredible balance of performance. It features their patented Tri-Balanced construction, which helps to deliver uniformity across all three layers of the golf ball. A high MOI design maximizes distance off the tee that is paired with a thin, urethane cover for improved control and feel on approach shots. If you’re looking for a high performing golf ball at a more budget friendly price point, the Triad may be the ball for you.

Maxfli Tour S

Over the past few years, Maxfli has become one of the best cost value to performance golf balls on the market. They features premium construction at a fraction of the cost of other major OEMs, and the Tour S is no exception. As with other balls on this list, the Tour S is designed to be low spinning off the tee with great greenside control. If you’re not looking to break the bank on golf balls this season, the Tour S can be had for as low as $119.99 for 4 dozen.

Srixon Q-Star Tour

The Q-Star is Srixon’s softest ball that still provides excellent performance in a three piece design. A slightly increased compression rating for faster ball speed combined with a soft urethane cover for improved spin on approach makes this one of the best golf balls for players with average swing speeds.
