East Lansing – The Michigan Golf Course Association (MGCA) proudly celebrated the individuals and organizations whose leadership and dedication continue to elevate Michigan’s golf industry.
The Annual Awards Dinner, held Tuesday evening, December 2, at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort during the 2025 Michigan Golf Business Conference & Vendor Fair, brought members together to honor the remarkable achievements of this year’s distinguished recipients.
“Each of these honorees represents the very best of Michigan golf. Their leadership, service, and commitment to strengthening our industry inspire all of us,” said Jada Paisley, executive director of the MGCA. “They lead with purpose and passion, and it is a privilege to recognize their contributions and celebrate the positive impact they continue to make across our state.”
2025 MGCA Award Recipients
Matthews Lifetime Achievement Award
Barry Owens, CEO, Treetops Resort
Owens was recognized for a lifetime of visionary leadership and service that has strengthened Michigan’s golf and tourism landscape. His work championing collaboration, most notably through America’s Summer Golf Capital, has left a lasting impact on the industry statewide.
Lyle Leeke Distinguished Service Award
Bill Johnson, CEO, Gull Lake View Golf Resort
Johnson’s commitment to service extends far beyond his role at Gull Lake View. His longtime leadership on the MGCA Educational Support Foundation and ongoing work with regional tourism efforts highlight his deep dedication to advancing Michigan golf.
Outstanding Leadership Award
Jason Pearsall, Revive Golf Management and Managing Partner, Warren Valley Golf Course
Pearsall is celebrated for his innovative approach to course revitalization and team development. His leadership at Warren Valley and within the industry exemplifies transparency, empowerment, and a people-first philosophy.
Award of Merit
The Scott Family, Owners, Gull Lake View Golf Resort
For more than six decades, the Scott Family has shaped Michigan golf through visionary development, community leadership, and steadfast support of industry education. Their legacy continues to influence generations of golfers and owners.
2025 MGCA Course of the Year
Crystal Mountain Resort
Crystal Mountain’s Mountain Ridge course earned this honor for its exceptional design, community impact, and longstanding commitment to elevating the game, most notably through hosting the Michigan PGA Women’s Open for 23 consecutive years.
