The second major of the golf season continues into Sunday’s final round with a reduced field making the cut all eyeing the Wanamaker Trophy while simultaneously seeking to use the 2026 PGA Championship as a jumping-off point for the remainder of the campaign. While no one entered with particular pressure on their shoulders, there are some significant names in contention after 54 holes, but they will need tremendous play down the stretch to get the job done.
Alex Smalley, who has been flirting with the outright lead all tournament, enters Sunday’s final round with a two-shot lead after 54 holes. Scottie Scheffler, who entered as the reigning PGA champion, led after 18 holes and sits five back of Smalley, likely rounds out the legitimate contenders. Among them are a who’s who, including Ludvig Åberg, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed, Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka.
