JACKSONVILLE, Fla.,  — Private club industry veteran John McCranie has joined Signature Group as Senior Vice President, Club Consulting.

McCranie brings more than four decades of leadership experience in private club operations, hospitality, strategic planning, governance, and member services. His career has been defined by operational excellence, relationship building, and a proven ability to guide organizations through growth, change, and complex operational challenges.

Most recently, McCranie served as Island Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Cat Cay Yacht Club in the Bahamas, where he led operations for 14 years. In addition to traditional club management responsibilities, he oversaw a complex remote private island operation serving an international membership. His responsibilities extended far beyond club operations and included fresh water production and distribution, power generation and distribution, waste management, medical clinic services, emergency services, law enforcement coordination, airport operations, and local and national government relations.

Under McCranie’s leadership, Cat Cay Yacht Club earned recognition as both a Platinum Club of the World and an International Distinguished Club, distinctions it continues to uphold through consecutive years of recognition.

“John offers a wealth of experience to Signature Group, which will substantially increase the value of our offerings for Clubs,” said Bruce Lucker, CEO of Signature Group. “John’s knowledge of how some of the world’s best Clubs operate and what members are looking for will be a great resource for our current and future clients. John can share his understanding of how Clubs operate and the communities they are connected to and that surround them.”

“Throughout my 41 years in the industry, I have had the privilege of working with exceptional clubs, boards, leadership teams, and members,” said McCranie. “What excites me most about this opportunity is the ability to share those experiences with a broad range of clubs and help them strengthen operations, enhance member experiences, and navigate the challenges facing the industry today. Signature Group has built an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality service, and I look forward to contributing to that mission.”

A Certified Club Manager (CCM), McCranie is widely respected for his expertise in operational leadership, financial management, strategic planning, governance, member services, staff development, and project management. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation for integrity, vision, adaptability, resilience, and collaborative leadership.

One of McCranie’s greatest passions is helping clubs, boards, and management teams achieve their full potential. His leadership contributed to the development of training programs that helped earn the prestigious AAA Five Diamond designation at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. He also has extensive experience leading both corporate/developer owned and member-owned private clubs.

Following a successful 14-year tenure at Cat Cay Yacht Club in the Bahamas, John and his wife, Jana, recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where he is reestablishing his presence in the Northeast Florida club community. McCranie’s distinguished career includes leadership positions at Epping Forest Yacht Club, the AAA Five Diamond Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, and Florida Yacht Club. He remains actively engaged in the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) and previously served as Education Chair for the Florida Chapter.
