Mike Hendrix welcomes Jonathan Wride of TenFore Golf and Taylor McCauley of CivicPlus to discuss their new partnership and what it could mean for municipal golf courses. CivicPlus brings established local-government relationships and parks-and-recreation software; TenFore brings a golf-specific platform built around course operations.
The guests explain why partnering made more sense than building a golf product from scratch, how procurement and customer support will work, and where TenFore is expanding its platform. They also explore AI tools, shared tee times through Buddies, kiosks, payment backup plans, and the role municipalities may play in protecting public golf and green space.
“We partnered with TenFore with a company and an organization that is the expert in golf.”
Key takeaways:
- A partnership built on complementary strengths: CivicPlus brings reach into local government, while TenFore supplies golf-specific software and expertise.
- A simpler procurement path: CivicPlus says municipalities can use one contract and avoid a separate procurement process for golf software.
- Parks and recreation tools can support golf operations: CivicPlus’s offerings include memberships, point of sale, registration, facility reservations, equipment rentals, and more.
- TenFore is expanding its platform: Jonathan describes upcoming work to support more devices, alongside new AI features for tee time scheduling, accounting support, and reporting.
- Buddies makes group play easier: Golfers can invite friends to claim tee-time spots, pay when required, chat, and check in online.
- Kiosks can help courses do more with fewer staff: The guests discuss self-service for check-in, food ordering, retail, and payments.
- Support still matters: Both guests emphasize timely, human help—especially when a problem arises during a busy day at the course.
- Backup payments can reduce disruption: The discussion highlights the value of having a practical payment backup ready if a primary system or connection goes down.
- Municipal golf and green space are closely linked: The conversation considers how local governments can help preserve public golf and affordable access as land pressures grow.
