El Macero, California – El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif., will host the 60th Annual California Women’s Amateur Championship, Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24. The Championship will feature 156 of the top female amateur golfers in California and consists of two rounds of stroke play, with the field cut to the top 32 players advancing to match play. The 18-hole match-play final will take place Friday afternoon. The event is free for the public to attend and watch top amateur golfers compete on El Macero’s championship layout.
Following a multi-million-dollar renovation project in 2025 that focused on green surrounds and bunker enhancements, El Macero Country Club has hosted a number of high-profile events, including The El Macero Classic collegiate golf tournament in April, a 2026 U.S. Senior Women’s Open qualifier in June and the California Women’s Amateur Championship in July.
“We are excited to showcase El Macero Country Club and host one of California’s premier amateur championships,” said El Macero Country Club General Manager Chris Johnson.
Previous host sites of the California Women’s Amateur Championship include Pebble Beach Golf Links, Quail Lodge in Carmel-By-The Sea, and Peninsula Country Club in San Mateo. Past champions include LPGA legend Julie Inkster, LPGA Tour player Mina Harigae, NCGA legend Lynn Cowan, and Ladies European Tour player Annika Borrelli.
El Macero Country Club was founded in 1961 by C. Bruce Mace as part of the El Macero property development. In 1966, the members purchased the club from the Mace family. Located about 10 miles west of Sacramento, El Macero Country Club meanders through the El Macero development and encompasses about 168 acres within beautiful residential surroundings. The Club’s 18-hole parkland-style championship course was designed by course architect Bob Baldock in 1961 and stretches to more than 6,860 yards. Notable golfers to play El Macero include Byron Nelson, Joe DiMaggio, Ronald Reagan and Tiger Woods. The Club has been managed by Troon Privé since 2007.
