ANN ARBOR, MI — Construction has begun on the golf course renovation at Travis Pointe Country Club, marking the next phase of the club’s long-range improvement plan as it approaches its 50th anniversary. The project was designed by golf course architect Christopher Wilczynski, ASGCA, founder and owner of C.W. Golf Architecture, and is being constructed by MacCurrach Golf Construction.
Based on the club’s approved architectural master plan, the renovation will thoughtfully enhance the club’s 18-hole golf course originally designed by Bill Newcomb-through strategic improvements that strengthen playability, aesthetics, and sustainability while preserving the character that has made Travis Pointe a respected championship venue.
The renovation includes the strategic repositioning and reconstruction of bunkers using the Better Billy Bunker lining system, green expansions on select holes, fairway refinements, improved drainage infrastructure, and selective tree management. Together, these improvements will enhance course conditions, improve maintenance efficiency, and support more sustainable course operations.
“Seeing the plan move from the drawing board to construction is always rewarding,” said Wilczynski. “The master plan was built around respecting the history of Travis Pointe while positioning the golf course for its next chapter. Every improvement has been carefully considered to create more strategic golf, improve conditioning, and elevate the experience for members and guests.”
A longtime Travis Pointe member, Wilczynski brought both professional expertise and personal familiarity to the planning process. His understanding of the course’s history and character helped shape a renovation that builds on its existing strengths while preparing it for the decades ahead.
The renovation complements the club’s broader investment in its facilities, including recent clubhouse improvements, and reflects Travis Pointe’s continued commitment to providing an exceptional member experience.
“Our goal has always been to ensure Travis Pointe remains among Michigan’s premier private clubs,” said Kori Isaac, General Manager. “Chris developed a thoughtful master plan that honors the golf course’s heritage while introducing improvements that will benefit our members for years to come. We’re excited to see that vision now taking shape.”

Construction is expected to be completed by November 2026.
