In one of the most dramaticfinishes of the PGA TOUR season, Fitzpatrick defeated world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a playoff on Sunday, claiming his fourth PGA TOUR victory. Entering Sunday with a three-shot lead over the field, Fitzpatrick navigated a fierce Scheffler charge down the stretch. After a bogey at the 72nd hole allowed Scheffler to force a playoff with back-to-back birdies and a closing 67, Fitzpatrick responded with characteristic composure on the first extra hole. He struck a 4-iron to 13 feet into a stiffbreeze at Harbour Town’s iconic par-4 18th and drained the birdie putt to win. He finished the tournament at 18-under par, posting a final round 1-under 70.
