Brentwood, Tenn. – Every member of the victorious U.S. Team wore Softspikes at the Presidents Cup, where the Americans produced the biggest comeback in the competition’s history to beat the International Team 17–13 at Medinah Country Club.
All 12 U.S. players chose replaceable spikes, as did 10 of the 12 International Team players. Just two of the 24 competitors wore spikeless shoes, making replaceable spikes the overwhelming choice across both teams.
The U.S. faced a three-point deficit heading into Sunday’s 12 singles matches after the International Team took control of the contest over the first three days. The Americans then won 9.5 points on the final day to turn a 10.5–7.5 deficit into a four-point victory.
It was the U.S. Team’s 11th consecutive Presidents Cup win, achieved after the International Team had become the first visiting side to take a lead into Sunday’s singles. The scale of the turnaround made the result particularly memorable for a U.S. team whose entire playing roster had chosen Softspikes.
