Preserving a Legacy
When Evergreen Partners first approached Shawn Dahl, President at Ames Asset Management, ownership was not actively pursuing a transaction.
“We built and operated Somerby for decades and have significant residential development still ahead,” said Dahl. “We were not interested in transitioning the golf operation to a group with short-term motivations.”

The club’s founding members also had a right of first refusal to acquire the property, but after a town hall meeting in December to meet the Evergreen team and have their questions answered, the membership voted 96% in favor of Evergreen becoming the next steward of the property. In a message to club members, Dahl added, “Evergreen Partners has embraced Ames’ vision for Somerby and will continue to grow the club into one of the finest private club communities in the Midwest.”
