Scheffler continues hot streak with RBC Heritage win

Scottie Scheffler dominated the field at the RBC Heritage to win in back-to-back weeks following his Masters’ triumph, and capture his fourth PGA Tour win in five starts.

After opening the tournament with a 2-under 69, Scheffler caught fire and put together three dominant rounds of golf at Harbour Town Golf Links, closing out the tournament with scores of 65, 63 and 68 for a 19-under-par total, which saw him finish three shots clear of Sahith Theegala, with Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay a further shot back in tied third.

On the 15th hole, Scheffler hadn’t made a bogey in 65 holes and when he put his approach shot into the water it looked like the streak would end. That was until he fired a pitching wedge to the back of the green and zipped it towards the hole before draining an 11-foot putt for par, which resulted in a rare fist pump from the world no.1 as play was halted due to darkness with him holding a five-shot lead.

In the restart on Monday morning, Scheffler finished off his fourth round with three pars and a final hole bogey to take the win and become the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win The Masters and the RBC Heritage in consecutive weeks.

Before his bogey on the 18th hole, Scheffler played 68 consecutive holes without a bogey and at one point in the tournament went 53 consecutive holes with a score of 4 or better on his card.
