Is PXG’s New “One & Done ZT” the Softest Mallet Putter of 2026? We Put It to the Test

If you’ve been quietly ignoring PXG’s putter line, it’s time to stop. In this new review from the Life At The Turn channel, host Jamie sits down with reviewer Hayes to break down the brand-new PXG One & Done ZT — a zero-torque mallet that, after two-plus weeks in the bag, has officially dethroned Hayes’s previous gamer. The verdict? “The softest non-insert roll I’ve ever rolled.”

5 Things You Should Know About the One & Done ZT

1. It’s a “zero torque” putter — but with an onset hosel.
Zero torque means the face stays square through impact (no opening or closing mid-stroke). The interesting twist: the One & Done ZT uses an onset hosel configuration, not an S hosel. PXG’s previous zero-torque entries (the Allen with S, the Bat Attack, the Hot Rod) leaned S — the Hot Rod was the first non-S version, and now the One & Done follows suit.

2. It carries PXG‘s highest MOI of any putter they’ve ever made.
The team used polymer (the same material found in the 0311 Gen 7/Gen 8 irons) behind a thin face to free up weight — and pushed it all to the perimeter. The result: the most stable, twist-resistant putter PXG has shipped. For golfers who lose putts to off-center strikes, this is the whole point.

3. The “pyramid milled” face is the real headline.
Forget inserts. PXG milled a thin, pyramid-textured face that interacts with the dimples of the golf ball at impact. Combined with the polymer behind it, Hayes describes the feel as “milled but soft” — no pillowy insert sensation, just a soft, controlled roll.

4. Alignment is built for confidence.
The topline features a single sightline up front and a “railroad track” frame in the back, so you can line up square at address without hunting for the sweet spot. Bonus: yes, you can scoop the ball with it (unlike the Allen, which famously could pick the ball straight up).

5. It’s affordable AND customizable.
Retail price: $449 — sub-$$500 keeps it competitive with the big-name mallets. Plus, weight ports in the head let a fitter dial it to your stroke. Speaking of which: you can get fit at any PXG store or any PGA Superstore with a PXG-certified fitter (PXG is expanding that list through the summer).

Who’s It Actually For?

If you putt heads-up (looking at the target, not the ball), if you struggle with the face twisting open on off-center hits, or if you’ve been craving that “soft feel without an insert” combo — this putter is aimed at you. Hayes went from die-hard fan of his previous gamer to one-putting far more often in just a few weeks, including closing a round with a 20-footer for par and a 25-footer for birdie.

Want One in Your Hands Before You Buy It?

This is exactly the kind of gear worth testing in person (or on your own turf) before committing. The Life At The Turn community is opening up reviewer-test slots for new gear drops like this one — it’s free to join, and it’s where PXG and other brands are handing out early testing opportunities to real golfers, not just reviewers.
