CARLSBAD, Calif. – COBRA PUMA GOLF athlete Gary Woodland earned an emotional victory on Sunday at the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course. The win, which is the Kansas native’s fifth on the PGA TOUR, marks an incredible comeback for one of the most talented players and impressive people in golf.

“We couldn’t be happier for Gary,” said Russ Kahn, president of Cobra Puma Golf. “He’s not just an unbelievable athlete – he’s also an amazing human being who has faced incredible challenges, both mental and physical, and overcome them with grit and humility. We’re extremely proud to have Gary as a member of the Cobra Puma family.”

The former U.S. Open winner fired rounds of 64, 63, 65 and 67, for a tournament record-breaking total of 259 and a 5-stroke victory over the nearest competitor. Characterized by Woodland’s renowned long-hitting off the tee and claw grip putting stroke on the greens, the dominating performance guarantees him a spot in the Masters next month.

“I’m overwhelmed by the support I’ve received over the past couple of years and again today. This win is even bigger than my U.S. Open victory at Pebble Beach and I can’t thank my family, friends and sponsors enough for helping me through an incredibly challenging time. I hope this win inspires people suffering from trauma, including all our men and women in the U.S. military, to hang in there until they see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Woodland, who had brain surgery in 2023 to address a brain lesion, won the PGA Tour Courage Award in 2024 due to his amazing comeback to the sport after an invasive and life-threatening surgery. Earlier this month, Woodland announced to the world that he has been suffering from PTSD due to the challenges of the diagnosis and treatment of his illness.
