The 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup team is halfway filled with six players earning their way onto the squad at the conclusion of the BMW Championship. The penultimate event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs marked the end of the qualifying window for the red, white and blue in the international team event slated to take place at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3 from Sept. 24-27.
Leading the way is none other than world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who secured his place atop the rankings following his runaway victory at the St. Jude Championship. He is joined by Players Championship winner Cameron Young and U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark, each of whom has put together a tremendous season.
Clark not only claimed his third title of the year with his win at the BMW Championship, he managed to play his way into the top six to ensure he would be donning America’s colors in Chicago next month. Clark went from No. 7 in the standings to No. 3 as Ben Griffin fell from No. 5 to No. 8 with his T44 finish at the BMW Championship.
All six automatic qualifiers have experience in both the Presidents Cup and the Ryder Cup, as Clark was the only player to not tee it up at Bethpage Black in last fall’s Ryder Cup.

“These six players have earned the opportunity to represent the United States, and I couldn’t be prouder to have them on our team,” U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker said. “Scottie continues to set the bar, and Cam, Wyndham, Sam, Russell and Collin have consistently proven themselves against the best in the game. Beyond their talent and experience, they’ve shown they can perform when the pressure is the highest. That’s what makes them such a strong foundation for our team.”
Those who finished just outside the top-six cutoff point include not only Griffin but also Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Justin Thomas and Jacob Bridgeman. These names round out the top 12 in the standings with Patrick Cantlay finishing at No. 13 following his strong performance at the BMW Championship.
Snedeker and International team captain Geoff Ogilvy will make their six captain’s selections on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. ET, rounding out their 12-man rosters.
