2023 Sanderson Farms Championship picks, odds, field: PGA predictions, bets by model that nailed 10 majors

Just because the 2023 FedEx Cup champion was crowned and the Ryder Cup is behind us doesn’t mean golf is done for the year. The 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship tees off on Thursday at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi. The Sanderson Farms Championship 2023 serves as the second event in the inaugural FedEx Cup Fall. The FedEx Cup Fall results will determine PGA Tour status for the 2023-24 PGA Tour season and the winners of each tournament get the same benefits as winners of regular season events, which includes a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

Ludvig Aberg is the 10-1 favorite in the latest 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship odds. Eric Cole (20-1), Stephan Jaeger (22-1), and Keith Mitchell (22-1) are next in line on the PGA odds board. Aberg was part of Team Europe’s victory at the Ryder Cup, but will he be able to carry those winning results and finish above the rest of the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship field? Before locking in your 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm’s second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure’s best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Sanderson Farms Championship 2023: Eric Cole, who is listed second in the odds, stumbles this week and barely cracks the top five. Cole struggled at this event last year, missing the cut at 2-over par. He missed the cut in his first five tournaments of the 2022-23 season, so he is overvalued following a strong performance his last time out.

Cole finished fourth at the Fortinet Championship, marking his first top-10 finish since the RBC Canadian Open in June. He ranks outside the top 175 in total driving and is No. 135 in greens in regulation percentage, which will be difficult to overcome this weekend. SportsLine’s model has identified several other golfers who are much stronger betting options in the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship field.

Another surprise: Beau Hossler, a 40-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Hossler finished T-20 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in his final event of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season but didn’t have enough points after the tournament to advance in the playoffs. Hossler had a strong finish to the season though, including placing T-6 and T-13 in back-to-back tournaments to close out July.

With a weaker FedEx Cup Fall field, this could be Hossler’s moment to record his first PGA victory. The 28-year-old made the cut in 21 of 30 events last season, including three top-10 finishes. He finished above average on the PGA Tour in both driving distance (50th) and putting average (40th) and has the tools to put together a strong weekend to win the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship. At 40-1 odds, the model shows value in Hossler winning in Mississippi. See who else to pick here.

How to make 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship picks

The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 30-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model’s picks here.

So, who will win the Sanderson Farms Championship 2023, and which longshots will stun the golfing world?
