2023 Mexico Open picks, odds, predictions, field: Proven golf insider fading Maverick McNealy at Vidanta

The PGA Tour heads south of the border this week for the 2023 Mexico Open, and world No. 1 Jon Rahm will be on hand to defend his title at Vidanta Vallarta. Tony Finau, ranked 16th, will join him starting Thursday in a lackluster PGA Tour field that features just eight of the world’s top 100 players. Alex Noren (No. 50) is the only other golfer ranked in the top 60. Rahm and Finau put on a show last year, with Rahm going 17 under and Finau finishing among three players one shot back after he fired a 63 in the final round. Sweden’s Noren is part of a Mexico Open 2023 field that has a strong international presence, with players like Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard and Argentina native Emiliano Grillo also expected to be among the contenders.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Rahm (+290) and Finau (17-2) as the favorites in its latest 2023 Mexico Open odds. Wyndham Clark (21-1) is the only other player priced shorter than 30-1. Gary Woodland (32-1), Hojgaard (34-1), Maverick McNealy (34-1), Patrick Rodgers (36-1) and Noren (37-1) also are among the favorites in the Mexico Open 2023 field. Before making any 2023 Mexico Open picks, be sure you check out the PGA Tour predictions and best bets from SportsLine golf insider Sia Nejad.

Nejad specializes in betting and DFS in golf, among other sports. He’s had incredible success in the outright and first-round leader markets and betting head-to-head matchups. In 2022, he hit six first-round leaders in a 12-week span while peppering in tournament outrights throughout the year.

In 2023, Sportsline debuted “The Early Wedge,” and in the first three months of the show, he hit two FRLs and three outright winners. Nejad also had a winning head-to-head record in eight of 10 weeks (including full tournament sweeps on head-to-head plays). He was up more than 70 units over that three-month span.

Now, Nejad has studied the 2023 Mexico Open field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. You can head to SportsLine now to see all of Nejad’s PGA picks and analysis.

Top 2023 Mexico Open expert picks

One surprise: Nejad is steering well clear of McNealy, fading him as an outright play and looking to target the emerging star’s opponents in matchup plays. McNealy missed two tournaments with a shoulder injury and hasn’t played well when he has been able to tee up. The 27-year-old’s last top-10 finish came in mid-January, and “his recent form has been very bad,” Nejad says. The expert also points out that the Stanford alum is “simply not a good course fit.” McNealy is 145th on tour in total driving and 168th in strokes gained off the tee, so Vidanta will be trouble for him.

Meanwhile, Nejad knows Rahm has been “arguably the best player in the world,” and he expects good things, but the price is prohibitive. The expert advises to look for value during the tournament if the Spaniard stumbles early. There’s no reason to expect anything less than success three weeks removed from his Masters championship, and Rahm has three other victories this season. The 28-year-old’s putting has been the key to his recent dominance, but he also leads the tour in strokes gained total and is 11th in total driving, so he could repeat. See who he is backing at SportsLine.

How to make 2023 Mexico Open golf picks

Nejad has locked in his best bets for the 2023 Mexico Open and has tabbed his longshots, including one who comes in at well over 60-1 odds. This golfer hits a ton of greens and is one of the best in this field off the tee. See who it is, and get all the expert’s picks, at SportsLine.

So which players should you target or avoid for the 2023 Mexico Open? And which golfer in the Mexico Open 2023 field could bring a monster payday of well over 60-1? Check out the odds below, then visit SportsLine to see Sia Nejad’s top prop picks for Mexico Open 2023, all from the expert who was up over 70 units on his golf picks in a recent three-month span.
