Walkinggolfer.com Returns: Promoting Health And Wellness By Walking Golf Courses

Houston, Texas  – WalkingGolfer.com has re-launched and once again serves as the premier online destination for golf enthusiasts who embrace the health and wellness benefits of walking the golf course. According to the site’s founder, Rob Rigg, the new WalkingGolfer.com is set to inspire and support golfers in their journey toward a healthier lifestyle.

For Rigg, an avid golfer with a vision to celebrate the traditional walking experience, creating the site began as a passionate personal project that soon evolved into a thriving community dedicated to walking the golf course.

Rigg’s vision was simple: create a platform where walking golfers could connect, share experiences, and discover courses designed with walkers in mind. The site also would drive “Walkability Ratings” for thousands of golf courses across the U.S., while sharing articles on the health and social benefits of walking.

Today, WalkingGolfer.com serves as the definitive resource for thousands of players across the United States who believe that golf is best enjoyed one step at a time.

The revamped WalkingGolfer.com offers a wealth of resources, including expert tips on walking the course, reviews of the latest walking-friendly golf gear, and community forums where golfers can share their experiences, advice, and walkability ratings for courses they have played. The site also includes a directory of courses that allow walking.

“I’m thrilled to re-launch the website, particularly as golf is growing and attracting new audiences,” Rigg said. “We hope the greater golf community finds and embraces us, helping to provide their insights and guidance for each other’s benefit.”

Rigg’s love for the game began at a young age as the Toronto, Canada resident spent every other summer in Ireland where he could play 54 holes a day at the local club, while also caddying for his grandparents while they competed in tournaments.

“I only knew golf as a walking game and absolutely loved the experiences and memories generated from spending time on the course with family, friends, or whomever you were paired with on the first tee,” Rigg recalled. “I also caddied through middle school and high school at Rosedale Golf Club (Toronto) and sought out a game wherever I could find it, always playing on foot with a bag over our shoulders. It wasn’t until I moved to the U.S. that I noticed many golfers riding in carts instead of walking. Plus, some courses either did not allow walking or were totally unwalkable due to their designs.”

To help accomplish the relaunch of The Walking Golfer—originally launched in 2009—Rigg has partnered with Stewart Golf, a leader in innovative remote-controlled golf trolleys, and its CEO Mark Stewart.

“I could not be more excited to relaunch the site in partnership with Mark and his team who love to enjoy the walk so much that they built a company to make it much easier for golfers to do so through the use of their high-quality golf carts,” Rigg said. “The partnership with Stewart Golf ensures that visitors have access to top-of-the-line equipment designed to make walking the course more enjoyable and efficient.”

Rigg and Stewart concur that walking the golf course is more than just a leisurely activity; it is a holistic approach to wellness. Studies have shown that walking 18 holes—whether carrying one’s own bag or wheeling either a manual or electric caddie—burns calories, improves cardiovascular health, and enhances mental well-being. The rhythmic pace of walking, combined with the natural beauty of the golf course, provides a unique opportunity for stress relief and mindfulness, while adding an element of fun

“At Stewart Golf, we’re 100 percent committed to walking the golf course,” Stewart said. “Supporting Rob’s vision and helping expand the walking community is a priority for our company.”

Rigg remembers it was during a rainy winter in Portland, Oregon, in 2008 that he started formulating the idea to start a website that would provide information to help golfers enjoy the walk and find places to do so. He is proud of how it has evolved into the resource it is today.

“Whether you are a seasoned golfer or new to the sport, WalkingGolfer.com is your go-to guide for enhancing your game and your health,” Rigg said.
