West Caldwell, N.J. – Tournament Host and Mizuho Brand Ambassador Michelle Wie West today announced that she has accepted an invitation to play in the fourth annual Mizuho Americas Open as a sponsor exemption when the tournament tees off at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., May 4-10.

“One of the privileges that comes with being the host of the Mizuho Americas Open is that I, along with Mizuho and the tournament team, review the potential golfers that could fulfill our sponsor exemptions that we add to our field,” said Wie West. “When I was presented with the idea for me to play, I couldn’t think of a better time to return to the course and compete with the world’s best golfers, as well as have the opportunity to play alongside the top AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) girls.”

The announcement was revealed at the tournament’s media day this afternoon, which included a preview of Mountain Ridge Country Club ahead of next month’s event.

“As the title sponsor, we have the challenge each year of determining who will be awarded exemptions to play in the Mizuho Americas Open,” said Jerry Rizzieri, President & CEO, Mizuho Securities USA and Head of CIB. “This year, we are thrilled to have Michelle play as one of our sponsor exemptions. We’ve come to know Michelle very well over the past four years and there’s no one who exemplifies the tournament’s mission to raise the standard of competition while advancing the next generation of talent more than she does.”

Wie West, a five-time winner on the LPGA, will also play in this year’s U.S. Open in her final year of eligibility based on the 10-year exemption from her victory at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2014. The timeline was extended for two years due to a maternity exemption. Wie West and her husband, Jonnie West, welcomed their son Jagger in October 2024.

Last year, Mizuho Americas announced an extension of its title sponsorship that will see the Mizuho Americas Open continue through 2030. The event will be held at Mountain Ridge Country Club for the next two years before returning to Liberty National Golf Club in 2028.

About Mountain Ridge Country Club

Founded in 1912, Mountain Ridge Country Club has long been considered a historic venue. Originally established in West Orange, N.J., the Club moved to its current site in West Caldwell, located just 20 miles from New York City, in 1929 when it commissioned famed golf course architect Donald Ross to design a championship 18-hole course across 282 rolling acres. Often described as one of the NY City Metropolitan Area’s “hidden gems,” the course has always been viewed as a classic Donald Ross design. The course was considered a difficult test when it opened in 1931, and little has changed in the 90-plus years since. The course is known for its distinctly Ross features, especially its challenging greens. Ross designed each nine-hole loop to wind down to the lower part of the property and conclude with a long assent back to the iconic fieldstone clubhouse, designed by renowned architect Clifford C. Wendehack. The venue has hosted many championships, including the 2012 USGA Senior Amateur Championship and the 2021 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup. Over its century-long history, Mountain Ridge has been home to many prominent members and continues its commitment to excellence, community, philanthropy and the game of golf.
