Cobra has launched a new range of drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons under the brand name DARKSPEED. Available for pre-sale from January 11, they will start arriving in pro shops and golf retail stores from January 19.

DARKSPEED DRIVERS

DARKSPEED drivers feature aerodynamic shaping, a re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE, and advanced A.I-designed PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face in three models – LS, X and MAX – each of which feature a unique weight configuration to optimize performance for the target player for which they are designed.

AI-designed PWR-BRIDGE weighting features a suspended weight that is positioned lower and more forward, resulting in faster ball speed. A 13% larger PWRSHELL face insert with A.I. designed H.O.T. Face Technology maximizes speed across the hitting area. The face design is optimized using machine learning to increase ball speed efficiency and smash factor.

All three DARKSPEED drivers feature a multi-material chassis with lightweight carbon crown and sole plates, as well as a reinforced titanium frame to create optimal weight distribution and maximum stability. The carbon fibre crown is 30% thinner allowing more weight to be placed low and forward in the PWR-BRIDGE structure.

COBRA’S MyFly 8 with SmartPad technology allows for loft and lie adjustability up to +1 or -1 degrees. SmartPad technology maintains a consistent face angle for each of the eight different sleeve settings, ensuring a square clubhead at address.

DARKSPEED LS DRIVER
The DARKSPEED LS is aimed at the fastest swingers who need lower spin and more shot shaping control, and is designed with the highest rear skirt height, a higher crown peak, and a more compact address profile.
The LS model features three weight ports that house two 3g weights and one 12g weight; two in the front and a third back weight position. The 12g weight can be placed in the heel or toe to fine-tune fade bias, or in the back to add spin and forgiveness.
Within the LS family, COBRA also offers an 8° model, which is an evolution of a prototype head used by World Long Drive champion Kyle Berkshire. The 8° model features a visibly smaller and even more aerodynamic head shape, promising extreme speed for the most powerful players.
RRP: £429 LOFTS: 8°, 9°, 10.5° (+/- 1.5°)
SHAFT OPTIONS: UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X White (XS and S); Project X HZRDUS Limited Edition Matte Black Gen 4 (S), and UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue (R and S).

DARKSPEED X DRIVER
The DARKSPEED X model, which is aimed at the widest range of players looking for a combination of exceptional ball speed and forgiveness, features a medium rear skirt height and streamlined shape.
The X model features a back weight and a second front weight position allowing players to optimize ball flight. Players can position the 12g weight in the back for the highest MOI and forgiveness, or in the heel for the most draw bias.
RRP: £429  LOFTS: 9°, 10.5°, 12° (+/- 1.5°)
SHAFT OPTIONS: UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X White (XS and S); Project X HZRDUS Limited Edition Matte Black Gen 4 (S), UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue (R and S); MCA KAI’LI Blue (R and S).

DARKSPEED MAX DRIVER
The DARKSPEED MAX, which is aimed at players who require the most forgiveness and/or a draw bias, features the lowest skirt height and the highest MOI of the three models.
A separate Max model for women featuring a gloss crown and sole with blue colour accents is also offered. It is fitted with a UST Helium Nanocore shaft in L flex.
RRP: £429 LOFTS: 9°, 10.5°, 12° (+/- 1.5° adjustability).
SHAFT OPTIONS: Project X HZRDUS CB Red (A and R flex); UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Red (R and S flex).

Cobra Darkspeed hybrid, driver and fairway wood

DARKSPEED FAIRWAY WOODS

Complementing the DARKSPEED drivers is a full lineup of fairway metals. Utilizing PWR-BRIDGE weighting, PWRSHELL with H.O.T. FACE, and carbon fibre crown technologies as the DARKSPEED drivers, the fairway WOODS are also available in three models to fit the full spectrum of players.

DARKSPEED LS FAIRWAY
Designed for players with faster swing speeds, the new LS features a space-grade Titanium body and Titanium PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE insert. Titanium was utilized by COBRA engineers to save more discretionary weight and reposition it lower and forward in the head.
This combination of PWR-BRIDGE technology and 68g of tungsten weighting moves the CG lower and forward for maximum ball speed and distance. A lightweight carbon crown also functions to save weight in the upper portion of the clubhead, yielding a CG location that is 3.2mm lower to the ground than in the previous model.
Like the LS driver, the DARKSPEED LS fairway metal features an adjustable weighting system with two 15g weights in the front and a single 3g weight in the back for trajectory and spin tuning.
RRP: £329 Lofts: 3+ (13°), 3 (14.5 o), 5 (17.5°). All adjustable +/- 1.5°.

DARKSPEED X FAIRWAY
The DARKSPEED X model is designed for players looking for a balance of easy launch, forgiveness, and distance. An 8g fixed weight is positioned in the rear of the sole for added forgiveness and high launch, while PWR-BRIDGE and PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology provide faster ball speed through a low, forward CG location. A lightweight carbon crown further contributes to the low CG by removing weight from the upper portion of the clubhead.
RRP: £329 Lofts: 3 (15°), 5 (18°), 7 (21°). All adjustable +/- 1.5°.

DARKSPEED MAX FAIRWAY
The most forgiving fairway metal in the lineup is designed for players that desire a high, draw-biased ball flight. Like the MAX driver, the fairway metal features an adjustable weight system with 12g and 3g weights positioned in the back and the heel of the sole to fine tune forgiveness and flight.
PWR-BRIDGE weighting and PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology deliver the fastest ball speed possible using low and forward weighting and an optimized variable thickness face design, while a carbon crown helps lower the CG location for higher launch.
A women’s model comes in a special gloss black finish with cool blue color accents and is equipped with a UST Helium Nanocore shaft in Ladies flex.
RRP: £329 Lofts: 3 (15.5°), 5 (18.5°), 7 (21.5°). All adjustable +/- 1.5°.
Women’s model lofts: 3 (18.5°), 5 (21.5°), 7 (24.5°).

DARKSPEED HYBRIDS

DARKSPEED hybrids, which are offered in standard shaft and ONE Length versions, feature PWR-BRIDGE weighting and PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology for added speed, launch and forgiveness.
Standard Hybrid Models: 2 (17°), 3 (19°), 4 (21°), 5 24°), 6 (28°)
ONE Length Models: 3 (19°), 4 (21°), 5 (24°)
Women’s Hybrid Models: 4 (21°), 5 24°), 6 (28°), 7 (31°)

DARKSPEED IRONS

Designed to provide the ultimate combination of speed, distance, and feel, the new DARKSPEED irons feature an all-new hollow body construction filled with feel enhancing foam, as well as re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE and PWRSHELL technologies to create COBRA’s longest, best feeling game improvement iron to date.

Taking cues from metalwood designs, a new hollow body construction creates a thinner and more responsive clubhead structure that unlocks up to 25% more face flection for faster ball speeds and longer distance.

To achieve enhanced sound and feel, the hollow body of the new DARKSPEED irons is injected with foam microspheres, which expand to fill the internal cavity. Once injected the foam supports the PWR-BRIDGE weight while also providing vibration-dampening properties for a soft feel and pleasing sound.

For optimized performance through the set, the DARKSPEED irons feature a progressive TECFLO construction that transitions from a full hollow design with PWR-BRIDGE and PWRSHELL in the 4-7 irons, to full hollow body with no face insert in the 8-PW, to a half hollow design in the GW-SW.

The PWR-BRIDGE weight is suspended on a small singular post, allowing it to be almost completely free floating within the hollow clubhead. This performance-enhancing design positions the CG low for optimal launch while creating an improved face and sole that helps increase ball speed and launch.

A thinner (1.6mm) and 21% larger PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face insert that takes ball speed to the next level. An L-Cup construction also boasts a new and improved H.O.T. Face pattern, designed using AI, for a faster and more efficient clubface. H.O.T. Face was designed to produce the optimal variable thickness pattern for a larger sweet spot and improved speed on both centre and off-centre hits.

DARKSPEED Irons are available in both Variable and ONE Length options. Each One-Length iron is built to 7-iron length (37.25 inches) to encourage a repeatable setup and swing. They feature wider soles and slightly weaker lofts in the 4-6 irons compared to the standard set to promote higher trajectory.

RRP: £849/£949 (4-PW, st/gr)
