The third golf major of the year is the 2025 U.S. Open, which will be hosted by Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh beginning on Thursday, June 12. Rory McIlroy opened the major season by completing a career grand slam at the Masters, while Scottie Scheffler notched his third major victory at the PGA Championship. Reigning U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau was in the mix in both events and is +900 in the 2025 U.S. Open odds. Scheffler is the +320 favorite (risk $100 to win $320) and McIlroy is next among the 2025 U.S. Open contenders at +550.
Jon Rahm played his way into contention at the PGA Championship, marking his first time in contention late on Sunday at a major since the 2023 Masters. Rahm is fourth in the U.S. Open odds 2025 at +1200, but should you include him in your 2025 U.S. Open bets? Before locking in your 2025 U.S. Open picks or entering any PGA DFS tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

2025 U.S. Open predictions for Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm
One shocker the model is calling at the U.S. Open 2025: Jon Rahm, a two-time major winner, and one of this year’s favorites, stumbles and barely cracks the top 10 of the leaderboard. Rahm cut Scheffler’s lead to one stroke on the back nine at the PGA Championship, but a stunning late-round collapse led to a t-8th finish. Rahm went bogey-double bogey-double bogey on the final three holes, prompting concerns about his acclimation to three-round events.
Now Rahm will take on Oakmont, where he was low amateur after recording a t-23rd finish in 2016. The 2021 U.S. Open champion hasn’t finished better than t-7th in a major championship since leaving the PGA Tour in December 2023 and he missed the 2024 U.S. Open entirely because of a foot infection. He’s still undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the world, but his inconsistency off the tee of late is a major concern with five-inch thick rough at Oakmont that isn’t graduated.
The model has also locked in its projection for Scottie Scheffler, who is coming off a dominant win at the PGA Championship. Scheffler got a late start to his 2025 PGA Tour season after sustaining a hand injury over the winter break. He was rusty in the first quarter of the year, finishing outside of the top 10 in three of his first five events.
He has roared back since that point, however, with five straight top-10 finishes. More impressively, he won back-to-back May tournaments, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and PGA Championship. Scheffler appeared to be on the cusp of a U.S. Open title with three top-10 finishes between 2021-23, but took a step back last year with a T41.
Meanwhile, the model has examined Rory McIlroy’s chances of winning his sixth major tournament. McIlroy ended a 10-year drought in major championships and completed the career grand slam with his Masters victory in April. The 36-year-old was surprisingly not in contention at the PGA Championship, finishing T47 after making the cut by one stroke.
Despite that poor result, he is still enjoying a historic season and should be dealing with less pressure after completing the career grand slam. However, there are also reasons to avoid him, including his driving issues following a club switch. He was a media no-show for four straight days at Quail Hollow, so there are many factors to consider before placing wagers on McIlroy. See the full U.S. Open projections from the model here.
