Corey Conners is an under-the-radar name constantly popping up near the top of leaderboards in major tournaments over the last two years, but the 33-year-old Canadian has yet to record a top-five finish. Still, Conners has two top-10 results, including finishing eighth at this year’s Masters and is one of the longest longshots in the 2025 U.S. Open field at +7000. He’s made the cut in all six majors since the start of 2024 with four top-25 finishes. Are Conners’ odds long enough to create value in him to capture his first major at the U.S. Open 2025, beginning on Thursday from Oakmont Country Club? Scottie Scheffler is the +280 favorite, followed by Bryson DeChambeau (+700), Rory McIlroy (+1100) and Jon Rahm (+1200) in the latest 2025 U.S. Open odds. Before making any 2025 U.S. Open picks, you need to see the 2025 U.S. Open predictions and best bets from golf expert Eric Cohen.
The host of Tuesday’s Early Wedge Best Bets Show on SportsLine’s YouTube page, Cohen is an avid golf bettor who correctly predicted the pre-tournament outright winner in eight tournaments over the last three seasons. He correctly identified Justin Thomas to win the 2025 RBC Heritage (+1800) and Ben Griffin to win the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge (+4500 w/o Scheffler).
Anyone who followed his sports betting picks could have seen massive returns on betting sites. New users have the opportunity to take advantage of the latest BetMGM promo code, FanDuel promo code, and Caesars Sportsbook promo code.
Now, Cohen has focused his attention on the 2025 U.S. Open field and locked in his best bets and top longshot sleepers. You can only see them here. You can also get a 2025 U.S. Open projected leaderboard from the computer model that’s nailed 15 majors, including four straight Masters.
Top 2025 U.S. Open expert picks
One surprise: Cohen is completely fading DeChambeau, even though he is the defending champion and one of the top favorites. As a standout amateur who was one of only five players to win an NCAA title and a U.S. Amateur, DeChambeau earned an invitation to the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont after winning low amateur honors at the Masters. He forfeited that exemption to turn professional, but still played his way into the tournament through qualifying and finished t-15th.
Now he returns as the reigning U.S. Open champion, but it’s been boom or bust throughout DeChambeau’s career at the national championship. In addition to his two victories, he’s also been t-20th or worse in seven of his 10 starts at the U.S. Open and he’s even missed the cut altogether twice. The two-time major champion also was in contention at both the Masters and the PGA Championship this season, but struggled in the final rounds of both events. See who else to fade here.
Meanwhile, Cohen loves the value of Collin Morikawa at +2500 (risk $100 to win $2,500), whom new users could also grab a Fanatics Sportsbook promo code to back. Morikawa has two top-five finishes over his last four U.S. Open tournaments, including finishing in the top 15 in each of those events. He shot a 66 in Round 3 of last year’s U.S. Open, which was the best score of the day, and only two golfers had a better score in any round in last year’s U.S. Open, so he has the potential to produce championship-caliber rounds. Unfortunately for him, it was coming off a round of 74 on Day Two as he was never a serious contender to win it all.
But at 25-1 odds, Cohen believes there’s value in that changing. The 28-year-old is already a two-time major champion, winning his first major at age 23. He was the third-youngest golfer to win the PGA Championship and a little more than 12 months later, Morikawa won his second major at The Open Championship. He’s yet to win a tournament this year, but Morikawa has two runner-up results and ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained. He’s the second-most accurate driver on the PGA Tour this season, which puts him in a strong position to finish in the top 10 in driving accuracy for the fifth straight year, and Cohen sees longshot potential in the 28-year-old in 2025 U.S. Open bets.
