One surprise: Cohen is completely fading DeChambeau, even though he is the defending champion and one of the top favorites. DeChambeau won the U.S. Open last year, becoming the first U.S. Open champion to hit five or fewer fairways in the final round since 2007. He has finished inside the top six in five of six majors since the start of 2024, but he does not have any other wins outside of last year’s U.S. Open.
“I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see DeChambeau post yet another top-5 and be a threat come Sunday,” Cohen said. “But he isn’t going back-to-back because I just don’t trust those irons right now. Off the tee, DeChambeau might be the best player in the world right now. But with his irons, he’s just another guy. Meanwhile, Cohen loves the value of Collin Morikawa at +2500 (risk $100 to win $2,500) at FanDuel Sportsbook. Morikawa is one of four golfers to finish inside the top 15 in each of the past four U.S. Opens, and he has the second-most top-five finishes (7) at majors since the start of 2020.
